The Monday night Heroes saga continues with 1961. Now, that all of our “good guys,” except for Rebel, have very coincidentally ended up in the same place, the Desert of Coyote Sands, we’ll finally learn the true origin of Heroes.
Over the past three seasons we’ve witness several origin tales, ranging from the useless history of Takezo Kensei to the artificial way Nathan and several others were given their powers. Angela Petrelli is now claiming that Coyote Sands holds the definitive origin on the Heroes saga. Can we believe her? More importantly, can we trust that the creative team will not introduce another muddled plot line to destroy the last five weeks of Heroes goodness? At one point I was beginning to wonder who was the greatest threat to our Heroes: Syler or the writers with their relentless focus on time travel.
Whatever happens in Chapter Ten, one thing is certain, Ando is hilarious. No, seriously - he is hilarious. There was a time when I wished Ando and Hiro would quit with the slapstick humor. I have since changed my ways and I’m a believe that their humor helps keep Heroes alive. I actually really liked the way that Hiro’s power returned only with the permission of Baby Touch and Go - aka Matt Parkman’s son. It was even funnier when Ando and Hiro assumed the truck driver spoke Japanese only to find out he spoke like a Texas redneck.
As for H.R.G., I’m a little upset that he didn’t see past Sylar and Danko’s ruse. Granted, he was under emotional stress after trying to assault his soon-to-be ex-wife, thinking that she was really Sylar. But, that’s no excuse. H.R.G. has been following Syler for several decades and his experience should have told him to at least put a bullet in Danko’s head before running away. At, least that’s what I would have done.
Now that H.R.G. is out of Danko’s shadow, he can at least reunite with the Haitian, who still doesn’t have a name, and start kicking some government hide.
