Mark your calendars Prison Break fans and beware the ides of May. The Fox show is set to end its four season run on May 15, 2009.
** Spoilers included below **
You can expect a 2 hour finale that flashes forward several years and also features two significant deaths and the return of four people from the past. That seems like a pretty daunting task considering that most of the major characters in the show leave via the grim reaper.
We can knock one of those off the list as I’ve heard the returning familiar faces will be C-Note, who presumably had a happy ending. Perhaps his wife is considered another? Who else will we see? I’m thinking Sucre and Maricruz will re-appear - living out their happily ever after somewhere in Mexico raising their daughter.
As for those deaths, that’s a tough one to think about. I’m inclined to think one of the demises is either Michael or Lincoln. Perhaps Lincoln will sacrifice himself so that Michael and Sara can pursue happiness. And we’ll probably see Alex Mahone die as well; there doesn’t seem to be a happy ending in store for his character.
Of course, I’m speculating on what will happen, but either way, I’m happy that the show is ending - and on its own terms. In retrospect, the quality drop-off from the first two seasons to the last two was pretty significant and diminished the quality of the first season’s replay value.
I remember thinking when Michael first entered Sona that the show should’ve ended with him, Lincoln and Sara on that boat, presumably with a happy ending in store. But, like most that were blown away by the amazing first season, I pressed through to the end, watching the relative ridiculousness of the 3rd and 4th seasons. So, I will be there for the last 5 episodes and I’m rooting for a great ending. It’s a chance for the writers to give us fans that have labored through to the end a good send-off.
