The first season of the United States of Tara is officially over and I’m already dreading the nine-month wait for season two.

First, let me say that my mind is totally blown after the fated meeting between Tara and Trip. Tara and Max finally have the chance to confront Trip about the night he took advantage of her at boarding school. In a “truth shall set you free” moment, Trip says goodbye to T. Yes, T. And, that’s when all-holy-alter hell breaks loose as T takes over Tara’s body and professes that she’s the one who slept with Trip. Well, Trip and his friend Mike that is. Buck tries to get a word in, but T quickly shuts him up and let’s everyone know all the dirty details of that night, including the fact that Trip also bedded his friend Mike. Whoa. Diablo Cody sure did paint one vivid picture in the season’s climactic moment.

We now know the truth; the alters were there before. Tara had an incident long before that boarding school night with Trip that caused her to have D.I.D. Could she have been sexually abused as a child? That could explain why Gimme likes to pee on Tara’s father.

Now that the truth is out, we can be assured that season two will focus on what happened to Tara before boarding school Max is the family problem solver and I have no doubt that’s what he intends to do.

As for Marshall, he’s reconciled with his mother. Jason did just use him to experiment and now Jason has found a girl to hang on his arm. Kate was right; T was just trying to protect him. With Marshall’s cherry popped, over losing his first love, we can expect a more mature Marshall come season two. Will he turn into a dog now and abuse the next guy’s feelings? I’m sure Diablo will cook up a healthy helping of laughs, while we wait for the Tara family return.

Unfortunately for Kate, things didn’t go so well with Gene. She ended up with no settlement cash and a stalker who just won’t take no for an answer. When headquarters fires Gene, he takes it as a sign that Kate played the sexual harassment card so that they could run off into the sunset together. Please hold as I throw up in my mouth. I’m still more than a little freaked out that Gene either has a key to Tara’s house or picked the lock. Either way, he needs to be arrested. Have we seen the last of Gene? Let’s hope not. Despite being the most awkward guy on the block, he adds some top-notch humor to the United States of Tara.

Charmaine has got some soul searching to do. On the one hand she has lobster and swordfish, and on the other she has Neil. Charmaine has come along way from being the apparent husband-snatching character we expected her to be in episode 1.

Now, let the countdown to season 2 begin as we bid a temporary farewell to Tara, T, Alice, Buck and Gimme. Don’t keep us waiting.

The United States of Tara Season 2 is expected to air January 2010. Hopefully, when it returns it will be with an Emmy in the pocket for Toni Collette.

@gogi - United States of Tara returns for Season 2 March 22 after the season 2 premiere of Nurse Jackie. It’s too early for Showtime to call Season 3, but expect the official notice by season April/May.

This is one of my absolute favorite shows and that is saying a lot, since I only have four that I even care to watch and not miss out of the thousands out there.
Anyway, I was hoping it would be coming on sooner, but I can wait. I’ll have to. The last episode was amazing and I can’t wait to see the season premiere. I know it will be awesome. The acting is great, the comedy is always on point, and the characters are well thought out. And Tara, how she handles things when she comes back to being herself, amazing. That just blows me away sometimes. I think, ’she can’t possibly come back from that’, and she does.

I just wish there were more shows like this. I’d probably be addicted to the television if there were.

This is defintely one of my new favorite shows. So worth it to have Showtime! This and like the Simpsons are the only reason to watch TV for me. I thought the episode was pretty fine though not without it’s flaws. I mean, where did Gene go after Kate left him in the house? He is so freaking weird, it’s like (shivers). Kate really did grow up quick in the one season, she lost her blue straks and seems like a decent person. Max, while I honestly don’t condone homosexuality, is definetely going to be affected by this in his next relationship, and I’m sure we haven’t ended seeing Jason around. Max proved a worthy character to watch on the show and added depth.Just a touch of cheesiness with the ending of the ep, showing all her alters, can’t explain why. But it was respected enough by me. Tara’s husband is a good person, glad he didn’t leave give up on her like they implied in a preview for one episode that he might. So… what happened to Tara that cause he split persona?! Season two will never come quick enough. Just for the record, not the hugest fan of Buck, but Toni plays him really well. T is my second fav, Alice is my favorite (there’s gonna be trouble with her) Gimme is just so weird. More on that alter will be revealed. And of course Tara, handling all these alters and the trouble they bring. Gotta love the fact her head’s on straight.
