For somebody with super speed, Clark is pretty slow. Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy. But, why can’t he just man up and say what he needs to say to Lois?
Season 8 Episodes 16 through 18 (”Turbulence,” “Hex,” and “Eternal”) were easily three of the best episodes this season. The only problem is we’re getting all this build up for a Clark/Lois fling that just never quite gets there.
Everyone sees the chemistry between the two. We saw it in episode 17, “Hex,” when he stared into Lois’ eyes, without realizing she was really Chloe. He’s supposed to be the Man-of-Steel, but his guts are made of mush. Lois gave him the perfect opportunity to say what he needed to say, instead he played chicken, by showing up to the meeting spot, only to call her and say he can’t make it. Does Clark want to be a stalker?
I would be overly enthused if they did a Possible Future story arc, where Clark and Lois ends up together married, and then Lois dies. I think that would be a great treat for fans.
Episode 18, “Eternal,” showed off Tess’ knowledge of Clark and Doomsday’s history. It seems Davis was actually befriended by Lionel Luthor as the original traveler. He even housed him at the Luthor mansion with his son Lex. Lex and Doomsday friends - damn. That would have been great had Rosenbaum stuck around for an extra season. I still have my fingers crossed that he’ll have a change of heart and come back to Smallville.
Unfortunately, since his powers didn’t immediately register, Lionel tossed Davis out in the street. If he was alive now, Lionel would be regretting that mistake. As for Tess, She knows everything about Clark, and even staged a plane accident to get him to “open-up” to him. Who does that? She tried to blow up Davis because in her warped mind she was helping Clark. But, this new LuthorCorp business owner is just too duplicitous to be trusted.
She’s also off her rocker. “Without Judas, Jesus would have never risen from the dead to come back and face his greatest challenge - saving humankind.” Ok, first she tries to crash her own plane and now she thinks Clark is the Messiah? Come on. Somebody, is tripping off of some really good dope.
I just wanted to pay a quick compliment to the writers for giving the comic fans back the comic trivia easter eggs. I thought the end of “Hex” was great when the JLA all called to say they were online. Then Chloe said, “Watchtower online.” For Chloe to by the symbolic Watchtower is such a great payoff for fans. She’s such a key character in Smallville, and deserves this title.
Tess gave a cool Batman reference in “Eternal,” too. “I even admire your altruistic selection of victims. It’s like keeping Bats around to wipe out the parasites that prey on the city.” It was a little heavy handed, but I still thought this was a great reference since it doesn’t directly deal with the main Smallville characters.

WTF was lois in eternal (the ep) or not no1 will say
I’m torn. You are so right that i wish Lois and Clark would just hook up already. on the other side, Blaine makes a good point we cant rush into it.
THE ANTICIPATION IS KILLING ME.
I’m glad they’re not rushing the Lois and Clark thing. Remember it took decades for those to to get together in the comics, and Clark was Superman then. There were many many many years of courtship between these two, and it would be dymb to rush it for the sake of TV audience angst.
