So, the truth is out. Mica is back. And, he’s Rebel. Our tech powered-whiz kid’s leading the rebellion with a new and improved deep voice.

There’s a lot of things right about this half of Heroes season 3. For starters, the tone is extremely darker than what we’ve seen. Peter is starting to take control of his life and stop being the whiny little brother to Nathan. The story has returned to its roots creating the deep seated mystery feel we had during the first season. After we learned about their powers and the company, it felt like the Heroes creative staff tried to do too much at once. The trapped Hiro in the past. Then they got caught in the sci-fi trap of making the entire story one time travel paradox. And, finally they gave everyone powers, including Mohinder. Terrible.

Now we’ve finally got a show worth following again, and the loyal fans can be thankful for sticking it through the down times. The reveal reveal was well earned and didn’t feel like something conjured up to explain a loophole. Ando and Hiro maintain the comedic aspect of the tale without being overly slapstick. There are less outrageous stretches in power useage now.

Tracy’s use of her powers was one of the best displays of powers in Heroes. She used the water to freeze an army of government agencies and herself. At first you wonder, how did she get frozen when that’s her power? Then you realize she played a clever ruse on Danko. As long as the ice particles and water are left around Tracy is still alive and ticking.

And, of course, the biggest positive is that Sylar has returned to being the evil rogue we adored from day one. He’s a man without a country. He delivered the puppetmaster to Danko and now he’s ready to claim his place as the Heroes’ Highlander. “There can be only one.”

With Nathan on the outs with the government, and Angela and Peter finally united, it will only be a matter of time before the Petrelli family finally joins forces to take down Danko. Let’s hope the creative staff can stay along this line of storytelling and not drift back into the Heroes stone age.
