T.I. Slammed with a Year and a Day

After a year on the road preaching the gospel of teen groups, T.I. is going to jail.

The rapper was sentenced this morning in Atlanta to serve one year and one day in jail. T.I. was arrested in 2007 before the BET awards after being found in possession of several automatic weapons. He’ll have up to sixty days to check into prison.

T.I. used his run-ins with the law to spearhead a docu-reality series on MTV, where he helped trouble teens with facing the reality of street life. He isn’t the first rapper to capitalize off of going to jail. Lil’ Kim also created a reality show when she was getting ready for jail, called ‘Countdown To Lockdown.’

T.I. starred as Stevie Lucas in American Gangster, where he played a promising athlete who turned to the drug game.
