Ellen Parsons is gunning for the title of the new and improved Patty Hewes.

Quite honestly, I didn’t think Ellen had it in her. The nice girl next door has gradually honed her skill for deception and become a mastermind of Hewes proportions. First she outed Phil’s clandestine affair to Patty. That was only the tip of the iceberg, really. It wasn’t until Episode 11 of Damages that Ellentruly showed her stripes.

Ellen stepped up to the plate and showed that she was a woman without loyalties or friends. She sold out Tom Shayes to the FBI, the one straight-arrow guy at Hewes & Associates if such a thing even exists. What’s more is that she did it while Shayes wife was in labor. As Tom went to grab a cab and head to the hospital, he was arrested by the feds. Faced with charges of paying off a witness, he decides to ask for a lawyer. Nothing can express the look of chagrin in his face, when Ellen Parsons walked through the door. At that moment you thought she was running the FBI as she began to negotiate Tom’s freedom in exchange for cooperation against Patty. Parsons really is a force to be reckoned with. Her duplicity and conviction is worthy of being deemed a Hewes rival. Frobisher and UNR have nothing on this young lady.

Don’t think Patty’s going to take this war lying down. Twice we’ve seen her explode in a fit of silent rage. First, in her conversation with soon to be ex-hubby Phil. She’s discovered his energy trades. Worse than that though, is the knowledge that Dave Pell, the guy who’s schmoozing with the head of the UNR table, was hanging out in her home. She tore into Phil, and despite his threats of fighting Patty in divorce court, we all saw the look of terror in his eyes. No one wants Patty Hewes as an enemy. Next, Tom Shayes takes the offer from the FBI, or Ellen, to reject Patty’s petition for him to offer a legal bribe so that charges can be dropped. He does so, also asking Patty to skip the bribe period. Patty calls him out for his weakness before firing him in a fit of rage.

Who knew that anyone could break through the walls Patty has surrounded herself with? It’s clear that Uncle Pete’s death and the unfortunate breakup with her husband is having a serious effect on her.

The season finale of Damages season 2 is almost here. And they’re sending us off with an explosive 90-minute finale. We’ve already started to see some of the future flashes come to pass. Wes, after skipping out on his task to murder Ellen, has moved in temporarily with her. Tom’s now out in the cold without a firm to call his own. And, soon enough Ellen will shoot Patty. I still can’t believe it will happen.

About Damages Season 2 Episode 12, ‘Look What He Dug up This Time”:
Ellen convinces the FBI to radically change their approach in the investigation. Meanwhile, Daniel Purcell re-enters Patty’s life and becomes critical to her case against UNR.

the first word she said is slightly slurred so it actually isn’t “she…”

The line is: “it just feels so good to let it all go.” The “it just” is kind of swallowed.

Ellen’s visiting David’s grave. She says that it didn’t work out with Patty the way she expected. The shot changes to Tom asking Patty what happened in the hotel room, then cuts back to Ellen. I couldn’t make out what Ellen said next. “She ….” WHAT????
