There was once a rumor of a tournament that didn’t take place in the Realm of Out World or in the Streets run by the infamous terrorist organization Shadaloo.
The few and proud new this to be the King of Fighters tournament. And, with a whisper it was gone.
King of Fighters didn’t bring anything remarkably groundbreaking to the world of fighting games. It did however start with three characters whose story was infamous. Terry and Andy Bogard, orphaned brothers who trained for the sole purpose of avenging their adopted father’s death at the hands of the treacherous Geese. Then there was there light hearted kickboxing playboy friend Joe Higashi who always kept the booze flowing and the women handy. The Fatal Fury tale heralded two mini-features and one extended feature that video game/anime fanatics in the U.S. drank up like like free lattes from Starbucks.
Now, the triumvirate is back with King of Fighters XII from Ignition. The game is scheduled to be released July 7, on the PS3 and X360. Ignition has just launched a teaser site to get fans ready.

- Kyo Kusanagi
- Ryo Sakazaki
- Athena Asamiya
Oh, and FYI for the Street Fighter purists - Ryo Sakazaki looks like a bootleg Ken. But heck, even Dan in the actual Street Fighter game is a bootleg ken, so who cares.
