Does this story sound familiar. The year was 2008. You decided it was time to put aside your inhibitions and hop on the musical simulation bandwagon.

You went to the store and picked up Guitar Hero World Tour. It was time to Rock Out. And, you loved every minute of it. The Beastie Boys, Jimmy Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Metallica — it was all there. Your musical thirst still not satiated you picked up Rock Band 2 amidst rumors of a hefty track list that allowed you to grab songs from the original Rock Band. Twice the songs, meant twice the fun. Plus, you’d get to Rock Out to one of your favorite songs - Enter the Sandman. You went all out this time and picked up the drum set too.

Unfortunately, Metallica pulled Enter the Sandman from the playlist. Inconceivable. So, yeah you had every song from the original Rock Band, but the void in your life remained. What’s the good in Rockin’ Out if you couldn’t Rock Out to Metallica’s “Enter the Sandman.” Talk about an oxymoron.

Then the world received news of salvation. Activision wised up, and signed exclusive rights to creating Guitar Hero Metallica for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. It was once again time to rejoice. Now, the quintessential tale of “having your cake and eating it too” could be realized.

Not only is the game packed with 45 explosive hits from Metallica’s illustrious career, but you’ll also get a variety of other legendary artists personally selected by the band, such as Alice In Chains, Bob Seger, Foo Fighters, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Queen. Forget sleeping with one eye open, it’s time to Rock Out all night long and let your neighbors cry bloody murder to the beat of the drums.

Why does Metallica get their own Guitar Hero and not GUNS N’ ROSES!?

I like Metallica and will buy this edition. I just think that we haven’t seen any good Guns N’ Roses songs make it on either Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Well not quite, I did face off against Slash in Guitar Hero, but I want more tracks. They have such an extensive library.

I would think that Guns N Roses would be so universal that they’d go after that first. Or is there some problem getting the rights?

Dude. This track list frickin’ rocks. I have both Guitar Hero World Tour and both editions of Rock Band, and the track list is ok. This Metallica release looks way better. So many great songs. My girlfriend’s gonna flip.
