Sunday Ratings: Kings Stalls, The Unit Shines

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how I thought that the choice of a Sunday night time slot is a little suspect for NBC’s new show Kings. And according to Variety, the preliminary ratings figures aren’t looking that great.

According to preliminary data cobbled together by Nielsen, the new drama averaged a 1.7 rating/4 share in adults 18-49 and 6.0 million viewers overall from 8PM to 10PM. As I mentioned before, competition is pretty fierce in that time slot and full of shows that have their faithful audiences (The Amazing Race, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the Fox animation comedies.)

On the other hand, one of my favorite shows, The Unit, had it’s biggest ratings numbers of the season, drawing 2.7 rating /7 share in adults 18-49 and 10.9 million viewers overall. This is great news for the show, which was moved to Sunday night this past season. This leads me to believe that the promos caught the attention of CBS viewers: the episode, Hill 60, featured a terrorist attack at the unit’s impromptu base.

Back to Kings, I’m hoping the show picks up some momentum next week via word of mouth - I really don’t want to be stuck getting attached to another NBC drama (a la The Black Donnellys) only to see it canceled.

Fans of “The Unit”, connect wth me on Facebook. I want a “Unit” group. I hate how they treated one of the best shows on tv. Remember, Alex Word on face book in St. Louis. Look for the group. If there are several by my name, I’m the one with the suit on with the Bible in my hand. Look forward to hearing from you all.

The Unit Rocks! “Hill 60″ was terrifying. These guys are cranking up the horror. Chasing terrorists on American soil, and leveling justice an woodbee Tim McVeys.

3 cheers for …… KINGS… I hope it takes off..
We need a show for the older family members to sit down and relax and watch together… for we did like the Black Donellys..
Please keep up the good work and the good series, on Kings we would hate to see that faded away out of site………….

Three cheers for The Unit! We knew it was going to heat up after football ended and it has. With no schedule delays, the show is flying with new episodes running back to back over the next few weeks.

Series Star Dennis Haysbert directed this coming Sunday’s (March 22) episode entitled “Flesh and Blood”. It promises to be one of the finest hours on TV. BRING IT ON!
