Kyle XY Series Finale: Bringing Down the House

All good things must come to an end – even if you’re a genius born in a pod without a belly button. The final episodes arrived on ABC Family to a shocked Kyle XY fan base. But, we enjoyed every minute of it. Cassidy coming to dinner, and the revelation of Jessi’s background was one of the strongest episodes in XY history. We got to see something that at one point, in season 2, we never thought would happen. Kyle and Jessi teaming up against a common foe.

We now know the truth. Latnok plans to restart the program that gave life to Kyle and Jessi. Kyle, Jessi and the Trager family have one last episode to take down the organization that birthed the Xs.

Unfortunately, no matter how good the series finale is, the fans will be left utterly disappointed. Kyle XY brought life to ABC Family, and now the network has decided to sever the umbilical cord. It’s sad really. There was so much building up this season, that it seems like a waste to end Kyle’s career so abruptly. Far be it from me to preach gloom and doom for ABC Family, but without Kyle I would never have known the station existed outside of cartoon reruns.

Kyle only just realized his feelings for Jessi - feelings that will never have the chance to be fully explored. In many ways, Kyle’s move from Amanda to Jessi is a move from childhood to manhood. He’s leaving behind boyish crushes and facing a deeper emotional bond that he was totally unprepared for.

Beyond matters of the heart, Kyle is now making the tough choices. Who would have thought that Kyle would finally man up and endorse a plan that involved torturing Cassidy to not only learn the truth behind Sarah’s murder, but also to gain Cassidy’s confidence. The end of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” said it all. Kyle says that he never lied before, but when he finally did he discovered he was good at it.

Alas, with one more episode left, we’ll never get to see Kyle fully embracing this new found more mature attitude. Maybe the loyal Kyle XY fans can take comfort in knowing that Kyle XY is going out at the height of its popularity. Unfortunately, we can only wonder if the true pinnacle of this show could have come with another season. Will another network pick up Kyle? It’s doubtful. The precedent for that kind of move is rare at best. But, then again ABC Family and Disney are one and the same. If we all do as Disney taught us and wish upon a star, maybe our dreams of more Kyle XY can indeed come true.

As for Matt Dallas and Jaimie Alexander, they’re two of the nicest actors you’ll ever meet. And, we’re looking forward to a bright future for both of these talented individuals.

I don’t subscribe to ABC Family and had never heard of Kyle XY until a week ago. That, I think, says it all concerning ABC’s marketing abilities. My introduction to Kyle XY was accidental in that I was searching thru Hulu for something knew to watch. During the past week, I watched every episode and became hooked on the story progression, even knowing that I was in for a disappointment in the end because of the way the show suddenly dropped off in the middle of season three. The actors grew in skill, the story became intricate and I can’t help but feel that if it had been given a real chance by being put out in the open where more people could see it, the show would still be on.

That ABC dropped it does not surprise me. They have a remarkable ability to start great shows and can them. Defying Gravity and The Forgotten are just two of the prime time shows they buried by puting them into an idiotic time slot. I’m actually shocked that they didn’t drop Lost mid season 1. I have come to believe that ABC stands for Always Blowing Chances. I hope the story will be completed in some fashion for the sake of the creators who did an excellent job.

I’m so sorry that it finished the way it did, with questions to answer and relationships to finalized. love the thought of Jessi and Kyle better than Amanda and she was nice but not the one for Kyle on my account. The one time they were doing a good story and I can tell you that everyone I saw at least some tears will fall at the end and was waiting for more each time. I just saw the series again on http://www.hulu.com and didn’t want to stop watching and what they call a season finally, believe me is not because there was more to come… Sorry for ABC and Disney they should fired the person that cut the production of those good writers that new how to keep a good story alive….

The kid romances in the show are all well and good, but the adult mystery is what held this 44-year-old’s interest. Hormonal screaming fits from teen girls with less sense and sensibility than drama in their makeup and boys uncertain about their budding sexuality don’t have the power to hold my interest, but a growing mystery involving scientific and criminal intrigue and conspiracy does. The romances of children and teens change like wildfires and hurricanes, and more often than not fizzle out. Why did they cancel this show leaving all the true pull of it hanging in the air? I don’t CARE what happens to Kyle and Jessi’s attraction. With my experience in romance, I can tell the writers that Jessi and Kyle are far from matched just because they have similar mental/physical abilities. They don’t even begin to share similar thoughts, heart, motivations. Kyle might “save” her, but that is not a good basis for realistic relationships. It just perpetuates the myth that saving people from themselves is possible, necessary, and a solid basis for long-term relationships. I could pick apart the value of every other relationship in this show except that of Nicole and Stephen, the only relationship that seems remotely realistic. Its easy to walk away from the show with a bunch of unresolved teen romance questions. What ticks me off is that it was cancelled with no resolution to the real draw of the show, the mysteries that can’t be resolved in the minds of the viewers, the ones that aren’t driven by the changeable whims of children going on adults. Maybe the show was growing too much to qualify for “ABC FAMILY”, but it sure has hellacious potential for SyFy. I say the show needs to be picked up, with the same writers, actors, directors, pretty much, and grown up just a wee tad. Let the kids have their romances - its cute and adds some substance to distract a bit from the intense mysteries and action, without completely detracting. But lets get the show back on the air, out of the kids’ bedrooms and groping corners and pity couches, and solve these mysteries. One more season is all it needs.

I am truly disappointed to say the least. I was completely heart broken to see the end of the series being season 3. Ending this show like this does not do it justice. Kyle XY bought ABC family ALOT of views and ALOT of money! they truly need to rethink their decision. I MUST see this amazing show to the very end!

I can’t believe they ended the series as they did. I had it recorded and thought we missed the end, but I finally saw the credits. Unbelievable, it was coming to a climax and they just cut it off. I was really disappointed. Kyle XY was truly one of the best series to come along in years. I started watching the first season with my mother in the hospital before she died. Even she enjoyed it and it is one of the last things in common we shared before she died. I hope someone will come to their senses and bring it back at least for another more conclusive season. They are always complaining about ratings dropping. Most people I know never heard of the show. All the money to produce it and they never really promoted it properly. It would have been a hit on ABC if they promoted it properly.

Really a shame. BIG mistake that they dropped this series. Only show that an entire family, including teenagers, which is so importan, enjoyed and could watch together!

I loved Kyle XY. It was the most original, interesting, tantalizing show in years on any network. I thought the best was yet to come–Kyle and Jessi traveling around and helping people with their problems –something like the old Kung Fu of the seventies with some healthy doses of Josh and Andy and a resolution for Laurie. What a major disappointment. I didn’t even know that was the final episode until I read a question in Parade last week. I was looking forward to the next season. I am devastated. What a bad decision for ABCF to have made.

I had no idea that last episode was the series finale. So much is left open. I envisioned this series as a modern-day Kung Fu–Kyle and Jessi, now mature, traveling around and helping people solve their problems with hefty doses of the Josh/Andy dynamic and a resolution for Laurie. I was shocked and devastated when I read a question in Parade last week about the series finale. Finale?? The best part was just beginning. I loved Kyle XY. Interesting premise, good writing, a ‘real’ feel. Why end such a good show? I agree with everyone else’s take on the other programming. Bad decision ABC Fam.

Not impressed, dissapointed, left hanging, unanswered questions. the show ended just like The Pretender, John Doe and Harsh Realm you finally start to really get anxious with the lead characters solving of the un answered questions about their past and then BANG canceled. who cares about ratings?! just continue the shows so the end like FRIENDS.

I am out rage that a perfectly good show like kyle xy went off the air, and i will do anything to get this show back on this or some network. Kyle xy is and always has been the most wonderful show ever.they cancelled the show because of the rateings.the rateings would go up if they showed kyle xy more than once a year.I myself refuse to watch any abc networks until kyle xy is back on air.Now abc and abc family will lose rateings. If we all watch the videos on abcfamily.com maby the show can come back!If we all tell ten people about kyle xy they can watch it. and each of them will tell someoneelse. we can get more friends.Blog this on myspace. google “save kyle xy” and protest on every page so we can save this show!!!!

Kyle XY is a prime example of the old adage, “only the good die young.” After three short seasons, we as fans are left begging for more… more of a show that was our bright spot on Monday nights.
We Kyle XY fans are a loyal group. As a member of KyleXY dot net, I’m doing what I can to help resurrect this show. You can join in the fight as well. The more of us that speak out for Kyle XY, the easier it is for the networks to hear us!

Kyle XY was certainly canceled before it’s time. Fans have (1)a plethora of unanswered questions, (2)a massive desire to see this program continued and (3)the drive to do what it takes to see that goal accomplished. What does this mean to networks? It means that (1) there is an established show with a great fan base that is waiting on someone to answer these questions (not to mention a plot that is screaming for a script), (2)with massive desire comes devoted fans, and (3) now those fans are grouping together to resurrect Kyle (much like he resurrected Jessi).
While we’re still reeling from the recent “hiatus” of Kyle XY, we’re not giving up hope! Fans can & have (and will) brought canceled shows back to life. Please join kylexy.net and see what you can do!

Way to wrap it up ABC Family!!!! You can’t tell me that the powers at be did not know that the fans would be furious at this ending…not to mention that the series is ending at all. As many people are saying on this site….this is the only reason I watch ABC Family!! Rethink this decision…your watchers deserve that. This is an amazing cast of actors…not seen very ofton. Be Smart ABC Family!!

The ending sucked !!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they were going to end the show they sould have done it right. Instead we got some half ass ending. This show was the best show on tv. I stopped watching heros to watch Kyle xy, and now the show has been canceled ABC family sucks!!!!! But wait they did the same thing to Gilmore Girls. Killed the shows before there time should be a crime and the networks should be punished.

I think we should boycott ABC Family into submission. Their other shows suck! It won’t be difficult for me to stop watching ABC Family considering Kyle XY was the only show I watched on that channel in the first place. Idiots! Why didn’t they just move the show to another time slot and put one oftheir “precious” teenie bopper shows up against Heroes? If they think they have anything else in their arcenal that can go up against Heroes, they are dillusional and they are going to see what dropped ratings really look like!

i feel like the producers of the show were gambling that the fan outcry would convince abc family to add another season. but what if they don,t? then the producers just screwed over their own fans.

I was on the edge of my seat the last 10 min of the show and all of a sudden they take a break and Im wondering how the heck they are gonna wrap up seasons of endless questions in like 3 min. they come back and all of a sudden it was over. WHAT THE HELL KIND OF AN ENDING WAS THAT??????????????????????????????????????? I can not believe this show (the best show ever none the less) was cancelled. I want moreeeeeeee. I need more of this show. I think we all need to write to abcfamily to show how much we need this show back. It sucks cuz I found out like 3 weeks before the Finale that my cousins gf watched the show too and I could have been chatting with her the whole time it was on.
It hadnt hit me till today that Iam really gonna miss this show and I feel like I need to do something about it to bring the show back. lol
