If I would’ve told you years ago that Smallville would survive at least two seasons without Michael Rosenbaum (Lex), John Glover (Lionel) and creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, you probably would have told me that I’m smoking something seriously strong. All said talent were just too awesome and integral to the show for it to possiblly go on.
But au contraire! Eight is not enough for The CW. The network has announced that it’s renewing the venerable Superman tale for a ninth season, smack in the middle of season eight’s run. Other CW shows also got a re-up : Gossip Girl, Supernatural (still paired brilliantly with Smallville), One Tree Hill, 90210, and America’s Next Top Model.
Back to Smallville, the jury is still out on whether or not Season 8 is all that and a bag of chips as the battle for consensus continues. In this corner, we have those that think the Luthor-less eighth season is awesome and has provided the opportunity to explore a myriad of characters in the Superman universe. Conversely, we have those who think the show has become a plate of Thanksgiving left-overs; just stretched out way too long, man.
I personally think that Season 8 has been one convoluted mess, with the writers jumping around as they please and seemingly trying to figure things out as they go along. Is Tess the villain, is it Doomsday, is it mannequin-Lex? Is Clark in love with Lana or will Clark finally align himself with destiny and pursue Lois? It’s just a mess at this point.

Some argue that the show is past its prime and they may be right. But, like all those who loved something from the beginning, I’m waiting until the last episode airs before I stop tuning in on Thursday night. And I’m looking forward to Season 9, because it’s an opportunity to finish out one of my favorite shows of all time in fitting fashion.
That being said, I’ve already started my wish list:
Smallville: The Revenge of Lex Luthor
Let’s get Michael Rosenbaum back to finish what he started as Lex. Come on dude, we’ll even supply the sharp razor and shaving cream if that’s what’s holding you back.
Clark Kent: Frequent Flyer
Mr. Kent needs to fly and pronto. And in the first episode please. Even better, let’s have him fly in the Season 8 finale, leaving fans to drool all summer about how awesome Season 9 will be. How amazing would that be?
Lana-less
Clana or Clois, we all have our preference. But Smallville writers need to choose one road and drive down it far. I’m still waiting for a magical moment between Clark and Lois that changes my mind about their chemistry. But given that we’re apparently going the Chlois route, I at least want to get a nicely developed story. As for Lana, I think that Kristin Kreuk is done (make sure you see her as Chun Li this weekend!), but you never know. If Street Fighter bombs, she may just be on the next plane to Vancouver to reprise her role. But seriously, if Smallville is to be the segue into Superman and beyond, then let’s invest some good time into selling him and Lois as the ultimate pairing.
A Fitting Wrap-Up for Chloe
Next to Clark, Chloe is undoubtedly Smallville’s best character. And it’s been a major suckfest to watch her contribution to the show dwindle as the seasons have passed. Years of development as a serious journalist had to be scrapped to make way for Lois’ emergence as the Daily Planet’s de facto hot journalist. I want to see a fitting wrap-up, and by wrap-up, I do not mean death. Develop her more as “Watchtower” and spin-off Smallville into a Justice League series. Thank you very much.

chloe is the best caracter of the serie. i would like to see chloe end with clark in love for ever…as the perfect couple.everyone wants to see a love story, between them…. lois is old,shit and bad caracter.she does not transmit nothing.she makes the serie a pice of rubish….ther is no chemistry btween lois and clark…. they look artifial,fake, together.
One of the reason I avidly watch smallville from season 1 up to now is because of Chloe, my favorite season ender was in season 5 where chloe kissed clark. I thought there was something to happen more special between them, after that season they become closer especially in season 7 then suddenly the story turned out different from what I expected all these years watching the show. Personally, I want Chloe and Clark to end up together though it would defy superman comics and movies where it was always Lois and Clark. But still I love Chloe for Clark.

lana needs to go on a very long vacation, she always seems to get in the thick of everything and louis steps back into the shade send lana to the phantom zone and let kouis step up a bit.

One thing…The writers should bring lana back as a superheroine of her own right (maybe even a masked one). Personally, I like her. They need to have Supergirl come back in a ship and then they can soak the Kriptonite out of Lana.

im thinking the season should start off with some new villians (metallo, mixye..idk how to spell it but that weird lil alien guy that messes with clark) and lead up to clark beating zod mid season to open up the door to the final fight..clark and the justice league kicking darkseid off the partly devestated earth. if you really wanna bring lex back, have him in some way (through an alien artifact or whatever) send a signal to an unknown being who can help him get rid of clark i.e. darkseid. as for chloe after shes done being sad and depressed over jimmy (which caught me by surprise dying) she should reprise her role as watchtower bc im getting the feeling the league is a little disbanded right now without her.

We,ve all watched for 8 yrs as clark grew up, 8 yrs as he came into his abilities and powers, well now he needs to get the suit, put it on and take to the skies. we’ve waited long enough already. quit dragging it out. I’m not saying whats been done so far is wrong, I’m just saying that that’s what superman became so famous for and to hold back any longer would be rediculous and pointless. I never miss an episode and I own all the dvd’s, I love the show but let’s face it - it’s TIME… As far as chloe goes, NO - do not kill her off but rather move her out and over to the justice league spin off series. smallville could be up graded to metropolis as well so clark can assume his rightful place as it should be. although with there being now 2 shows poor tom welling will be a very busy guy pulling double duty, that is presuming he appears in both shows. I’ve been a fan my whole life and see nothing but great potential and good times ahead either way this thing goes. botton line is clark needs to double ID it, put on the suit and get his butt in the air or people are gonna stop watching.

I have watched the show from day one and I think it really needs to step-it up.Starting with Clark taking a trip to the future with his ring.To get some kind of training into being Superman.But most of all to get Lois Lane back.The second thing that needs to be done is Clark needs to step into the suit.Also there is the fact that he needs to deal with Doomsday.But if were being honest we shouldn’t
have seen Doomsday since season10.Also the fans are getting pretty tired of somethings.Like he can’t fly,LANA,and the fact the show is Projected like a
soap opera.Superman has always been there for the American people in hard times and things are bad.

I don’t think I agree with that Charlie guy about the whole five years thing. By then I’ll have forgotten it, I would be so pissed. I probably wouldn’t watch it just cause they made me wait that long. There is nothing I hate worse than setting here having to wait forever for a show to come out. In five years they might have a show ten times better than smallville and it would make the show less interesting to watch. I absolutley do not agree with the Charlie guy about that.
