United States of Tara Episode 6 (Rundown): ‘Transition’

Episode 6 of the United States of Tara was the funniest to date.

It’s Charmaine’s birthday, and Tara’s parents have shown up to celebrate the occasion in the worst way possible, by trying to take away the kids from Tara’s unpredictable behavior. Max must do his best to try and prevent one of Tara’s alters from showing up. From there, it’s non-stop laughs as we learn the origin of Charmaine.

Charmaine like any cougar has a hidden secret that can turn even the nicest girl into a husband-hungry predator. First, Charmaine slept with Neil, which can make any girl a feel a little salty. Second, she has the run-of-the-mill neglected sibling syndrome. She grew in Tara’s shadow. Tara got all the attention and love with her Prince Charming, her unpredictable alters , and of course a high-school raping. Talk about dark humor from creator Diablo Cody.

But, sorry folks. That’s not all. In a hysterical tell-all, Charmaine rips open her blouse and proclaims that she can’t get a man because of the boob job her ex-husband made her get. I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw the Charmaine’s misaligned nipples. And, neither could Tara and Max.

The biggest secret, however, came at the end of the episode. Max hears a sound and wakes up to find his bed empty. When he sneaks into his in-laws room he sees Tara peeing on her father. Mystery solved. We were right. Tara has another alter who likes to play practical jokes. What we didn’t know is that this alter likes to dress up as Little Red Riding Hood.

Leave it to Max to play it straight and tell Tara’s father Frank that the kids shouldn’t move in with him because he can’t even take care of his own bed wetting problem.

Only six more episodes left in the United States of Tara. But don’t worry Tara fans, Showtime’s already planning out season 2.
