The answer is in the details. After watching Episode 18, “Deadlock,” we can safely predict that Kara Thrace will be announced as the final Cylon in Episode 19, “Someone to Watch Over Me.”
This isn’t a spoiler, the writers spoiled enough in the abundant subtext in “Deadlock.” The bitter scene between Saul and Ellen over Caprica’s baby left a question unresolved. How is it that Saul and Caprica Six were able to procreate and Saul and Ellen weren’t? They kept saying that love was the key to the future of the Cylon race. Is it possible that after all these years, Saul and Ellen were never truly in love? Or, does Ellen just have a few dead eggs in her system.
What if Kara is the child of Saul and Ellen. In “Deadlock,” Kara says watching the two is like watching her parents make out. Although this statement doesn’t mean that Kara is necessarily Saul and Ellen’s child, since the eight call the five their parents, it almost flat out states that Kara is Cylon. We can always assume that John wiped Saul and Ellen’s memory of ever having a child.
Let’s sidestep for a moment and consider Samuel Anders. He states that the name of Number Seven is Daniel, which would be a direct contradiction to Kara being one of the eight. However, it’s clear that Kara was alive before and died. And, it is clear that Kara has memories of a past life. Maybe Kara is the daughter of Daniel. Then, we can assume that the jumbled memories are a result of memories being genetically passed down to Cylon offspring or as a result of being only half-Cylon.
It is almost a forgone conclusion that Kara is Cylon. The only question is, what is her exact origin. Also we have the new Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica on the horizon. They will no doubt leave some other mystery unsolved, simply to have fans jump on board the upcoming release.
