So Unit fans, what did you think of Sunday’s episode, “The Last Nazi?” Snake Doc base jumping. A cameo from ‘Inside Delta Force’ writer Eric Haney. An insightful backstory on Colonel Ryan. This episode, while still not on par with those in the show’s first few seasons, was one of the best we’ve seen in a while.

I did have a gripe with the fact that the episodes seem to be airing out of order. The show quickly picked up the Charles Grey/Carson/Joss storyline after dropping it for a few episodes. And wasn’t Bob addicted to heroin the last time we saw him? Regardless of my nits, I was glad to see the squad back on the air, with a mission that involved all four team members no less.

As for when you can expect to see the show again, it looks like we’re in for another multi week hiatus. The Unit next returns with a new episode, “Hero,” on March 8, 2009. Why CBS doesn’t allow this show to gain some traction is beyond me. Ratings are still pretty good (especially given the Sunday night time slot). The good news is that March will feature new and consecutive episodes starting the 8th.

Hero will feature the initiation of a new and young member of the team. Enter Staff Sergeant Sam McBride played by Wes Chatham. Sam will be the new junior member of the team, replacing Cool Breeze as the youngest. Expect the men to put this guy through the ringer as he attempts to replace the very-missed Hector. Since this is a recurring role, I’m assuming he will make it in the team. It will be interesting to see the dynamic of the team adjust to this new fellow.

UPDATE: Here’s an episodic photo from Hero. Part of the episode will feature Jonas’ daughter Betsy going on a media tour as a result of her capture.

Can’t wait to see what the guys do to “Sam”. Should be a wild show. I’m really looking forward to seeing Angel Wainwright as “Betsy Blane” again. This actor ROCKS!

Yeah, CBS needs to either step up and start promoting the show better or sell it to Fox, who puts it on their top priority list of shows!

It is also beyond me that this show has not received higher ratings. CBS must be some kind of never make it happen bunch of wash-ups or something. I have watched it for years since the first episode and absolutely love it! until they start throwing in the “wife” drama…. action action and more action will sell better. and this two to three week wait loses a majority of viewers because they probably FORGET ABOUT IT!!!! they really need to get it together or sell to someone who has it together like FX or Fox. Thanks for a good article BuzzFocus!
