Diablo Cody’s got a new brain child on the way, but this time it’s for the home viewing audience. The United States of Tara is coming to Showtime. This show spotlights a middle America mother, named Tara (played by Toni Collette), who suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder.

The United States of Tara isn’t your typical outlandish multiple personality tale. The producers have taken a different direction on this series, creating a fun but serious look at a family who has accepted their mom for who she is and all of her “faults.”

Below is an off-the-wall interview with Diablo Cody, that doesn’t really have anything to do with the new show. However, it does give you a glimpse into the mind of Diablo.

The United States of Tara premieres Sunday Jan. 18th at 10PM ET/PT, followed by the season 2 premiere of Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

I have DID myself, I was pretty surprised when I found out about the show. It’s certainly better than any other media attention I’ve seen given to the disorder. And it’s entertaining. Surprisingly good job.

I just finished watching the 1st episode on demand. I am loving this show. I am seeing a ton, I am talking a ton of award nominations next year !! I have to go watch it again. Toni Colette is brilliant !! And, let’s face it, anything Diablo touches, pure genius.
