SPRay, for the Nintendo Wii, is typical fantasy story, that tries to lure you in with cheap novelty antics.

You begin the game as Prince Ray, a boy who was abandoned as a child and was adopted by the King. When an evil force attacks the sun that brings your people life, you’re tasked with assembling the pieces of the sun and restoring order to the world.

SPRay is a misbegotten game that could use a serious story and design overhaul. The story lacks intrigue and after a few hours you’ll easily lose interest. To hide the poorly thought-out story, you’re entrusted with two protective spirits: one representing cleanliness, with the power of water, and the other filth, with the power of vomit.

Using vomit quickly becomes monotonous. And you’ll hope for a chance to use your sword to fight. Unfortunately, your sword is anything but interesting. The sword lacks any unique nuances, and you feel like you’re fighting with a butter-knife.

As far as game-play goes, you’ll have a hard time just getting your character to face in the right direction. The best way to get Prince Ray to turn around is to just jump off a cliff and start again.

The challenges can be fun, and have a slight RPG feel to them. But, without a good story to back it up, a few fun challenges won’t sustain your interest.

The game is still fun for kids who will love using vomit as a weapon and be drawn to the vibrant graphics. However, SPRay won’t leave a lasting impact and will easily fall victim to the latest release.

The game is hot. I just picked it up and it’s worth copping if you’re a fan of platformers. The game gets damn hard though. Good multiplayer as well. This is that sleeper title that you’ll play 10 years from now and evangelize about (Maybe not that hot). Worth the play.
