Ever since we first met Dexter, he has always been the embodiment of the cold-calculating genius who protects Miami’s streets under the guise of a mild-mannered blood-spatter analyst. Whether he was defending the city against the Ice Truck Killer or just your average Joey-Murderer, Dexter has always been one-step ahead of the competition.

Sure there were times when people like Sgt. Doakes got the upper hand, but that was only temporary - another step in a mathematical equation of Dexter’s own design.

Flash forward, over thirty episodes later, and Dexter has finally met his match.

Miguel Prado.

When we were first introduced to Prado, we were hard pressed to find out where he would fit in the whole Dexter paradigm. Prado transformed from the mourning brother, to the seemingly unwitting accomplice, to golf buddy, to friend, to best-man, to serial killer trainee. Miguel was on the fast track to becoming the next Dexter.

Or was he?

Isn’t every student’s dream to outdo his master? That’s how it was for Anakin Skywalker. Now, Dexter’s padawan has taken the next step to Vader-hood. In episode 10, newly crowned arch-nemesis Miguel sets Dexter up to be kidnapped by the skinner. And, for the first time ever, Dexter is the prisoner.

There’s no doubt that Dexter will come out on top when the smoke clears. And fans will be granted a doubleheader. Dexter will get to close out the season with not one kill, but two - the skinner and Miguel Prado.

Here’s hoping for a savory end to Prado.
