The Unit doesn’t have a character named Fonzie, but it sure flirted with “Jump The Shark” status in a few different ways in tonight’s episode, “Dancing Lessons.”

First up, the unthinkable happened: the women were called upon to work with the men on a mission. Now before you go picturing Molly Blane with a sniper rifle, it wasn’t that extreme. They were enlisted to work undercover with Jonas back at their new home. There had to be another alternative to this type of storyline; I don’t buy that these trained guys would ever allow their women to be put in any kind of danger.

As for Bridget (”Red Cap”), I really hope that the writers have better plans for her other than to be the resident eye candy. The only thing that was missing from her dramatic bikini clad exit from the pool was slow motion and a hair toss.

And last was the somewhat cheesy rescue of the scientist’s daughter, who was left for dead at the bottom of a well. Now if these are the same guys that kidnapped her at gunpoint, don’t you think they would’ve been a little more precise in killing her? But I guess I’m willing to forgive this since the desired effect was for dramatic suspense. Bob and Mack save the girl in the nick of time - although it sure did look like they were going to let her drown instead of chopping off her hand, Jack Bauer style.

I’m a little nervous about where we’re going with the season, but I do like the fact that the show is slowing boiling the terrorist attack story line. And it looks like the Mack / Tiffy storyline is going to explode at any minute. Tune in next week to see the team con a terrorist into exposing his accomplices.
