“Crime Aid” brought out all the turmoil that’s been brewing in the past several episodes of “The Office,” and gave us a cliffhanger ending when David Wallace from corporate shockingly sees Michael and Holly kissing in the loading area.
What’s worse is that the office is robbed after Michael and Holly leave the door unlocked while presumably getting it on in a stairwell, leading to a fundraiser auction where Michael supposedly donates tickets – and backstage passes – to a Bruce Springsteen show.
For the first time, we see Jim start to struggle with his relationship with Pam after he runs into Roy while out at the bar. Will he be able to keep his head together in the midst of his long distance relationship with Pam, and her new friends and life in New York?
Dwight can’t bear the fact that Angela and Andy have officially set a wedding date, and, on Phyllis’ advice (thankfully, her season premier walk-in on a Dwight-Angela office romp is finally acknowledged) he gives Angela an ultimatum: she must choose Andy or Dwight by 6:14 (?) that evening. Dwight is distraught when his ultimatum is not acknowledged, but it doesn’t stop him from functioning at the office and, in fact, having some classic one-liners.
This was an episode where the whole deck of cards was thrown into the air, and it sets up the rest of the season nicely. I, personally, would hope that Amy Ryan’s character Holly does not get transferred to another branch or otherwise removed from the show. Things finally seem like they are looking up for Michael and her, and it’s remarkable how well they get along: “Tonight’s no good. Because I’m taking you out…”
But, next week’s episode title “Employee Transfer,” is an ominous warning. According to what NBC is saying about the episode, there will be “shocking” news from corporate, which worries me. What I predict is this: even more ridiculousness from Dwight, and possibly some major developments concerning either Pam or Holly. Either way, bad news.
