Every once in a while a game comes along that leaves an impression for a lifetime. Phantasy Star IV was just that game. Of all the stories in the Phantasy Star anthology, IV was by far the best.

Although a far cry from the legendary RPG-redefining Final Fantasy Star VII, PS IV was a leap ahead of other RPG’s of its time. The story spanned three generations of characters, where your future lineage was dictated by your marriage choices. Sometimes you’d end up with a green haired boy, other times you’d have a blue haired girl. And all because of the women, or men, you decided to kick to the curb.

Let’s not forget the infamous Wren. The android who was a friend to each generation of your family. And with each generation just got more and more beat up. Sometimes you’d start a generation with him in your castle, and other times, he’d be stranded in the desert.

Ah, good times.

This latest interation of Phantasy Star features over 150 new weapons and items exclusive to the PSP system versions. Phantasy Star Portable takes place just after the events of Phantasy Star Universe.
