In a very surprising turn of events, Terrence Howard will not reprise his role as Colonel James Rhodes in the 2nd Iron Man movie. Instead, the role will be played by another Oscar-nominated actor, Don Cheadle.
Due the AP, talks with Howard fell through due to “financial differences.”
Both are great actors, although I’m never a fan of switching actors between movies. I even hated the fact that Maggie Gyllenhaal replaced Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight. Anyway, this must be great news for Cheadle as he’s joining a very successful franchise that has at least 2 more movies it in. And to top it off, there are rumors of a War Machine movie as well (You may remember the end of Iron Man where Howard’s Rhodes toys with the idea of donning the Iron Man costume).
