The Unit continued its fourth season tonight with “Sex Trade,” which featured the team attempting to buy weapons off of a smuggler while the women got themselves into more drama back at home.
Let’s face it, the action on The Unit is so good that when we get an episode sans some type of battle, it seems to be underwhelming. But episode three was still another great segment as it explored the impossible choices that are necessary when defending thousands of lives and somewhat furthered the wives’ storyline.
Jonas, Bob and Bridget find themselves undercover in Kosovo, where they get into a bidding war over some plutonium. Equipped with an accent, Jonas negotiates a deal, but inadvertently discovers a group of girls being trafficked as sex slaves. The transaction culminates into a choice between saving the girls and saving thousands of lives. We see how much compassion Jonas has as he becomes attached to one of the girls, promises to free her, but ultimately has to choose against doing so.

On the home front, Tiffy is knee-deep in teen drama and is the target of an arrogant high-schooler who wants to “know” her a little better. Kim gets some work as a full time nanny, but becomes suspicious when her new boss seems to be aware of her cover.
My only gripe with Sex Trade is that it felt out of place following the first two episodes. Again, I don’t really need to see action, but the level of intensity/danger just wasn’t there like it was in “Sacrifice” and “Sudden Flight.” But regardless of what happened tonight, we’re all waiting for the explosive showdown between Mack and Tiffy (or Ryan), not to mention the inevitable reveal of a threat to the women.
