After the shocking Ice Truck Killer twist at the end of season 1, everyone wondered how could Dexter outdo himself in season 2. Sure enough the rivalry build up between Doakes and Dexter came to an explosive conclusion that left fans both enthralled and saddened.
Now that Harry is on the outs with Dexter, the question remains how will Dexter create his own future?
In the season 3 premiere “Our Father,” Dexter’s personal journey to create his own rulebook takes a startling turn. He kills someone who may have been an innocent man. What’s worse is that his victim is the brother of Assistant District Attorney Miguel Prado (Jimmy Smits). Awesome to be a fan. Stinks to be Dexter.
On the positive side, things with Rita are better than good. Dexter and Rita are having some of the best sex of their lives. Her children look to Dexter as a father. And Rita, has moved on from her past.
But, it seems that the better Dexter gets at being human, the worse off he is at being, you know, Dexter. His first kill of the season and he not only kills the wrong guy, but he also loses his crown and lets the bad guy (Freebo) get away. Shame on you Dex.
Ok, so I’ll let Dexter slide for the accidental killing. But now Rita is pregnant. Whoa. Come on Dexter, when you go in for the kill you wrap a whole room up in plastic. How come you can’t wrap your own stuff up? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
By the way, why can’t Debra get a break? Batista gets promoted. Deb gives up men, smoking and drinking. And she still gets stuck with a partner who on the Internal Affairs most wanted list and booted off the hot case of the week. Why!?
Also, I was startled to see the odd product placement. Maybe I’ve never noticed it before, but there was a visibly apparent bottle of POM juice in Rita’s fridge, after the Dexter/Rita love scene. Hopefully, this doesn’t become a regular thing.
There’s a lot of juicy happenings in Dexter Season 3, and I’m looking forward to watching more.
What are your thoughts on the premiere?

“in trouble?” really? After 1 episode you’re saying there is way too much drama that is dragging out.
Thi is a great new direction their taking the character in. It really shows off his internal conflict.
Anyway, we don’t know if this guy is totally honest anyway. So Dexter may still be the hero.
The real problem is they are not showing him being a vigilante at this point. There’s way too much extraneous drama that is really dragging out. I’m not saying it isn’t entertaining unless he’s killing. I want to see him out there getting more “bad guys”. OK, maybe the drama isn’t extraneous, but certainly dragged out. Perhaps it will start to pick up again in this season. If it doesn’t, they will be in trouble.
TOTAL BULL! I CAN’T beleive dexter would get her pregnant. what’s wrong with her anyway. She just let any guy not use a condom after not having sex in so long. this is crazy.
i think this begs the question as to the realness of this story. If he was such a professional killer he wouldn’t go around getting people pregnant.
