Sons of Anarchy quickly becoming the new show to watch on FX. However, it remains to be seen how long this Hamlet based drama can last. In a mainstream world pretty-much oblivious to the culture of motorcycle clubs, some of the plot lines seem a little overdone.
For one, the obvious stereotype is that bikers are red necks. This seems blown out of proportion in Sons of Anarchy. It almost feels like their unnecessarily forcing a Sopranos mafia feel into the atmosphere when it comes to racism. We get it these guys are tough.
Secondly, the B-plot lines could benefit from a little more adrenaline. Since the pilot episode, we haven’t seen Gemma (Katey Sagal) really get back to showing her stuff. More Gemma equals more love from this fan.
That having been said, the first few episodes have been exceptionally intense. Tone down the forced verbiage and manliness, and kick up the all the plot lines and you’ve easily got a winner.
When we last left the infamous Sons of Anarchy motorcycle club, the ranks were in a state of rebellion. Jax’s relationship with step dad Clay Morrow has become more strained as Clay asserts the criminal direction of the club.
In Sons of Anarchy Episode 4, entitled “Patch Over,” the club travels to Nevada to store arms with a brother club of The Devil’s Tribe. When the Mayans pose a threat, Clay decides to “patch-over” the tribe, making them an official SOA charter. Tara’s former boyfriend, ATF agent Kohn, begins investigating SAMCRO.
