In a small secluded corner of New York City, away from the crowds, mass transit, bustling tourist population, and the perpetual rat race traffic of city, lies a peaceful cove called Gramercy Park.

Journey inside Gramercy and you’ll discover something you never thought possible. All of your favorite Showtime shows come to life in one unique and truly spectacular house.

“Metropolitan Home” magazine and Showtime Networks have joined forces to create the Showtime House. The magazine and premium cable network have brought together some of the best interior designers to transform each room in the Hirtenstein house into a living representation of “The Tudors,” “Dexter,” “Weeds,” “Californication,” “The L-Word,” and the upcoming series “United States of Tara.”

Walk into the house and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported into your television. For Showtime fans, it’s like visiting Epcot Center in Disney World.

The design team of Vicente Wolf, Jamie Drake, White Webb, Laura Kirar, Amy Lau, Tori Golub and Johnny Grey have created a living piece of artwork in the city.

When I walked into Amy Lau’s “Dexter” room, I felt like I had stepped inside a twisted dream. Lau’s room felt like a Dexter crime scene come alive, topped off with a dazzling display of blood splatter that pays homage to the series.

My only wish was that I could fill out a blood splatter report and submit it to Michael Hall for approval. Dexter would be proud.

Showtime Executive VP, Creative & Marketing Len Fogge said, “The Metropolitan Home Showtime House is a perfect example of the innovative and groundbreaking ways we market our shows… We must find new and creative ways to generate consumer awareness and to continually distinguish ourselves in an increasingly crowded marketplace.”

Showtime has taken a step beyond superficial marketing tactics. The network has opened up the house to public tours and will be auctioning off items from the house with proceeds going to the Happy Hearts Fund. Kudos to Showtime for making this philanthropic marketing effort.

Fogg added, “Our programming is the best that premium television can offer and our approach to marketing must reach the same level of excellence.” This is undoubtedly true. Even HBO is falling behind on shows worth watching. Since “The Sopranos” and “The Wire” went off the air, there haven’t been any defining shows on HBO that would warrant a premium subscription.

Over the next week, we’ll be showing off clips of our tour of the house and stills, so that you can get a feel for what Showtime has created. The Showtime House will be open to the public Sept. 13 - Oct. 26. It is located at 23 Gramercy Park in New York City.
