There are three types of characters on “24:” those who have to live for the show to go on, those who die and you wish could come back and those that you wish would just die already.
Ausiello over at EW has broken the news that Elisha Cuthbert will return to the show as Jack’s stay-in-trouble daughter.
Ausiello: Ladies and gentleman, we’ve got a signed contract! Sources confirm to me exclusively that Cuthbert has inked a deal to reprise her role as Jack’s lightning rod of an offspring for a season-ending arc that will no doubt trigger a new round of wholly outdated and painfully unfunny cougar jokes. Per my 24 mole, Kim will return minus her old beau (sorry, C. Thomas Howell) and plus a child! That’s right, Kim’s got a little puma all her own!
So Kim Bauer running around causing Jack unnecessary grief again. Ugh. I can’t imagine that she’ll be anything more than an obstruction in Jack’s mission. And with a baby?? C’mon. Can anyone hear Jack saying “Dammit Kim, I told you to use protection!”. Anyway, although it seems like ages ago that she was getting chased around by a cougar and a hermit that looked a whole lot like Johnny Drama from Entourage (joke), the memories of that painfully boring story arch remain crisp. Season 6 was bad enough, we do not need to suffer through more filler in this show, please.
Kim will also be presumably older in Day 7. This season is set 4 years past season 6 and I believe at least 15 years have passed since Season 1. Hopefully a Kim in her thirties will have her act together.
