Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past two weeks, you know that swimmer Michael Phelps broke the Olympic record for most gold medals in one Summer Games session by winning a staggering eight races.
Said success has made his star so bright that the entertainment industry has taken notice and wants to capitalize on this ‘golden’ opportunity. Phelps has been tapped to host the 34th season premiere of Saturday Night Live in September. Phelps will also be appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno as well as presenting an award at the MTV Video Music Awards.
And he’s not limiting himself to network television. Phelps was around the on-location filming of HBO’s Entourage in Queens this past week and filmed a cameo with Kevin Connolly, who plays E on the show. Even though celebrity cameos add a sense of realism to the show, I have no idea why Michael Phelps would just be strolling around the borough of Queens.
Too bad his cameo wasn’t with Vince - it would’ve been cool to see a real life Aqua-Man meet a fictitious one.
