As the fall TV season approaches fast, I’m anxiously awaiting the return of one of my favorite shows, The Unit.
Poking around the web, I found a statement that Dennis Haysbert made to SCTimes.com reporter Aaron Barnhart:
I chatted with Dennis Haysbert, star of the CBS show “The Unit,” which got just 10 episodes made last season before the strike shut it down. Haysbert said this season will start out with a bang, as terrorists attempt to cut the head off the government, and everyone on the show has to go into “deep cover,” women included.
I said that sounded a little “24″-inspired, and Haysbert replied, “‘24′ would be lucky to have ‘The Unit.’”
Pre-Order Season 3 on DVD from Amazon
This sounds somewhat reminiscent of the Season 3 premiere, but I’m interested in seeing how the women fare when they are forced to go into cover.
In general, I can’t wait to see where they take the show. One of the rumored reasons that CBS brought the show back was due to an impressive presentation of the story and what’s to come by writer and show creator David Mamet. That’s music to my ears because, let’s face it, Season 3 wasn’t all it could be due to the writer’s strike.
I’m also terribly nervous about the move to Sunday nights. Yes, it will follow Cold Case and American Race and yes, I know that all the faithful Unit fans will be in front of their TVs, but I wonder if it truly has the opportunity to gain new fans at the 10PM time slot. The success of this season in the ratings department will ultimately determine if it’s to get a Season 5. Here’s to hoping that one of TV’s best shows gets to puts on a serious firefight.
The Unit premieres Sunday September 28 at 10PM ET.

There is a God!! Much appreciation for the return of The Unit, by far the best show out there.
Mike, its on a need to know basis, and you don’t need to know shipmate!
Is it for sure now that The Unit is returning this year? I have checked abunch of websites and most of them dont say much of anything. I have heard it will be on fridays and I have heard that it will be on sundays What is the real deal here. Is word not being passed though the proper channels or is this all just scuttlebut, “meaning rumor”.
