“Blade of the Warrior: Kshatriya” is an epic new miniseries from Virgin Comics.
Issue #1 of 4 introduces the character of Kshatriya, the second born son of Monarch Amitabha of Akasha kingdom. Kshatriya is destined to become king. Unfortunately, his older brother Mayadeva has other plans. The rivalry between the two spirals into an age old story of brother against brother.
The story plays out almost like an epic fantasy novel, a guiding force appears to the conquerer Alexander and tells him an legend. The question remains is the legend merely an allegory or an omen of things to come.
The writing tends to jump around at times, and may leave you feeling like a panel or two is missing here and there. But, the style is reflective of the mystic who is recounting the legendary tale to Alexander. The style also helps to fit a novel type story into a compact comic book.
From the landscape to the character drawings, the artwork by R. Manikandan is visually stunning and will quickly draw you into the tale of Kshatriya.
If you’re a fantasy buff and looking for a change of pace from the normal Marvel and DC lineup check out “Blade of the Warrior: Kshatriya.” Issue #1 of 4 hits comic shelves on August 13th.
