Brad Pitt may recently have become the proud parent of twins, but he’s Bastard in Quentin Tarantino’s eyes.

Pitt recently signed onto Tarantino’s latest film “Inglorious Bastards,” a World War II film.

Yahoo! reports Pitt will play the role of Lt. Aldo Raine, the head of the Jewish resistance.

Pitt’s character is a Southern rebel who leads a band of eight Jewish American soldiers as they exact vengeance on Nazis in German-occupied France.

Producer Lawrence Bender said the alchemy of Pitt and Tarantino, who have never worked together as actor and director, will yield unique results. “They’re going to push each other and really help make something special,” he said.

It’s hard to predict how this film will play out. Tarantino’s style is anything but normal. From “Kill Bill” to “Grindhouse” we know this this guy likes two things: killing people and creating works with a cult pizazz. Delving into World War II ethnic dynamics definitely seems like a risk. But if anyone can turn World War II into a fun loving slaughter-fest it’s Tarantino.

Pitt’s character is a voluble, freewheeling outlaw in the manner of Samuel L. Jackson’s Jules Winnfield in “Pulp Fiction,” prone to saying things like “we’re gonna be doing one thing, and one thing only, and that’s killing Nazis,” according to those familiar with the script.

Shooting is scheduled to begin October 13 in Germany, and The Weinstein Co./Universal co-production has its eyes set on a Cannes Film Festival debut in May.

“It’s going to be a nine-month sprint marathon,” Bender said.
