One of DC Comics’ greatest heroes is finally getting her own animated movie for the new generation.

“Wonder Woman” comes to DVD February 09. Unlike, “The Brave and the Bold,” “Wonder Woman” is targets an older audience. We spoke to Wonder Woman’s Executive Producers who said to expect a very dark story line.

The story stars Ares as the villain. “We had to give her a really strong opponent who is not just physically strong but emotionally strong.”

“What would a society of women warriors be like? We tried to make them as bad ass as possible. So from starting point we needed to come up with a villain who could give the Amazons and Wonder Woman a run for their money.”

The story starts much like the origin from the comic, where Diana is elected to go to man’s world.

Wonder Woman isn’t the only title coming to DVD in 2009. There are also plans for a yet unnamed Comic Book hero to come to DVD late 2009, which is already in the storyboard stage. And there are also 3-4 unnamed scripts in active development. We asked if Green Lantern was a possibility, to which Executive Producers replied, “It’s a very possible. Very possible.”

“It’s an ongoing process, as long as fans keep buying in record numbers we’ll keep making movies.”
