The Dark Knight and Iron Man aren’t the only two heroes making their way into a new animated series.

BET president Reginald Hudlin announced plans to create a Black Panther cartoon. If anyone should be behind plans to create a Black Panther cartoon, Hudlin’s definitely the man. Not only was Hudlin key in bringing the Black Panther back to the comic rack, he also orchestrated Storm and T’Challa’s (Black Panther’s real name) wedding.

For those who don’t know, the Black Panther is the king of a secluded land in Africa known as Wakanda.

Will the Black Panther cartoon see the light of day? The answer is doubtful. Not only are there creative conflicts in having the president of BET also write/produce a property for the network, but the Black Panther remains an obscure character to most non-comic fans. Although concept wise, the Panther is a great character, he tends to only shine as a co-star in other titles, while remaining sub-par in his own.

Add on top of that Hudlin’s less than stellar record in launching an animated series on the network. His plans for “Bufu” and “Hannibal,” announced at prior Comic Cons both failed to come to fruition.
