Back for a second scorching season is USA Network’s “Burn Notice”. It’s a hard job being a spy, but it’s even harder when those you work for “burn” you, deeming you untrustworthy and blacklisting you from their elite organization. Even worse, they burden you with a game of survival, freeze your assets and a drop a mandate on you to stay within city limits - or else.

But if anyone’s up for the job, it’s Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), who seemingly handles threats on his life as if they were breakfast - just another normal part of his day.

The sophomore season of this action/drama starts where the first left off: Michael doesn’t really know who “burned” him, but he’s forced to work for them (again). He engages in a game of play along, trying to figure out his new handler’s game plan as she dangles her intentions out-of-reach. Back with the show’s return is its delicate balance of well-timed humor and edge-of-your-seat action.

As for the cast, Donovan is back in full form, assuming his role as action hero/savior that curiously knows all and knows nothing simultaneously. Also returning is Fiona Glenanne (Gabrielle Anwar), who is a comforting familiar face in Westen’s world and just happens to be an ex-operative and ex-girlfriend. Joining the cast is Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Gallactica) as the ruthless operative Carla.

If you’re a fan of Burn Notice, you already know how great the show is. If you’re a newcomer looking for a summer show to add to your rotation, I highly recommend that you tune in for the premiere - Thursday July 10 @ 10/9c on the USA network.
