As another 4th of July passes into the history books, a new week of comics comes to life. And this week is all about DC Comics.

Well not quite. Marvel only has one strong title this week, and it may well be one of the only two comics you need to pick up this week. “Secret Invasion #4″ comes to the comic shelf and you’d better not hesitate on picking this issue up.

From DC comes the second must-read title of the week. “DETECTIVE COMICS #846.” Actually, I’m not too thrilled with the entire Batman: R.I.P. arc. “Batman #678″ was so abstract, I wish I never picked it up. Maybe I’m lame (don’t answer that), but it was just too off the wall to be part 3 of this arc.

Now you may be asking yourself, why hate so much on the Batman RIP plot and then highly recommend part 4? I can answer that in one word. Hush.

Yes, Hush is coming back to the pages of Batman. “DETECTIVE COMICS #846″ is part 1 of the 5-part story “The Return of Hush!” And it all leads up to Detective Comics #850!!!

Now the pull list:

DC COMICS
ACTION COMICS #867
In “Brainiac,” Part 2 of 4, Brainiac arrives in Earth’s orbit as the specter of death begins to close in on Superman. The Man of Steel has fought Brainiac many times before, but he’s utterly unprepared for his old foe this time. And if that weren’t enough, thousands of invader probes have been launched with the sole mission of destroying all technology on Earth! Dramatic changes are ahead for Superman, and it all starts with this attack!

DETECTIVE COMICS #846
A “Batman: R.I.P.” issue — and part 1 of the 5-part story “The Return of Hush!”

Readers who were surprised by Catwoman’s return last month haven’t see anything yet as Hush makes a dramatic return to the life of Batman. What will this mean for Bruce Wayne? This epic story kicks off the countdown to DETECTIVE #850!

FINAL CRISIS: REQUIEM
A very special FINAL CRISIS one-shot honoring the passing of a great hero who’s been a staple in the DC Universe for years. All that remains is one final memory that the League experiences together as they must fulfill his last wishes or die trying.

JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #17
In Part 2 of “Gog,” the Justice Society of America is split down the middle as their allegiance to the being known as Gog has disrupted the team. Are Gog’s motives on the level, or is it all some insidious plot to destroy mankind?

THE JOKER’S ASYLUM: PENGUIN
A cast of top creators lends their talents to THE JOKER’S ASYLUM — a special month-long, weekly series of one-shots starring the greatest villains in Batman’s rogues gallery.

Each issue tells a special stand-alone story that gives readers an inside look into the insane lives of the Dark Knight’s greatest adversaries. And all the stories are narrated by the Asylum’s leading homicidal maniac — The Joker!

MARVEL COMICS
SECRET INVASION # 4
The Story: The world has turned upside down! The Skrulls have taken the Earth as part of their empire, the Avengers and Initiative are scattered…but there are two people who want some answers. One has a hammer and one has a shield.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: WHITE
The Story: Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, the Eisner award winning team (DAREDEVIL: YELLOW, SPIDER-MAN: BLUE, HULK: GRAY, Batman: The Long Halloween, Superman For All Seasons, Television’s HEROES) return to Marvel and their prestigious “color” book series. CAPTAIN AMERICA: WHITE is their newest creation, peeling back an untold tale of Captain America and Bucky during World War II. Their unique combination of in-depth characters and high stakes action shines here with Cap’s deadliest mission of all. Marvel is proud to bring you Captain America: #0 this summer as a taste of what’s to come. Featuring an all new full story about the Origin of Bucky Barnes and how he came into Cap’s life, this special edition features a plethora of extras. They are happy to be back at Marvel and we’re thrilled to have them!
