While we’ve all been waiting for Clark to fly, Smallville seems to be coming in for a crash landing. Cast stars Kristin Kreuk and Michael Rosenbaum have walked away as regulars. Al Gough and Miles Millar have abandoned ship for clearer waters.
So how do you keep Smallville alive and kicking? Give the women fans some eye-candy by signing on a hero in tights. Justin Hartley will be a main ongoing character in Season 8 of Smallville. Hartley who plays the role of Oliver Queen, aka the Green Arrow, comes on after the CW passed on his medical pilot drama “Austin Golden Hour.”
Unfortunately, Hartley’s incorporation into Smallville sounds like a bore. Outside of being the thorn in the mixed relationship sprouting between Lois Lane and Clark, Season 8 will explore Queen’s origin.
Origin stories? Come on. Nobody wants any backstory. We can go to Wikipedia for that. Live in the moment. Isn’t that what all writers are told to do.
Two characters have been added to the villain roster at Smallville, a woman character named Tess and Doomsday.
Yes, Doomsday. How the *#$&? Honestly, Darkseid is more of a feasible choice than Doomsday. Leave Doomsday to cartoon and Film. The CW plan is to have Doomsday go by the alter ego of Davis Bloome. In the immortal words of Charlie Brown… “Good Grief.”
Oh well. What can you do? Look forward to seeing Green Arrow every week, and hope that Smallville Season 8 isn’t as painful to watch as “Barney.”
