Nickelodeon and Paramount have decided to forgo any conflicts with 20th Century Fox and drop the “Avatar” from their planned live-action feature based on the animated series “Avatar the Last Airbender.”
The film will simply be called “The Last Airbender” to avoid any dispute with James Cameron’s 3-D epic “Avatar,” slated for release Dec. 18, 2009.
M. Night Shyamalan will direct “The Last Airbender,” scheduled for release July 2, 2010.
