Announced today at the Cartoon Network up-fronts was Batman: The Brave and the Bold, a new animated series from Warner Bros. Animation that will premiere in the fall.

Along with the Dark Knight, the show will feature other heroes from the DC Universe including Aquaman, Blue Beetle and Green Arrow. Warner is banking on the success of “The Dark Knight” film to be released this summer.

Even cooler is the fact that the show will air on Friday nights as part of an action/adventure block that features Star Wars: the Clone Wars.

The early 411 on the show suggests that it will have a humorous tint and the Caped Crusader, while still defending Gotham, will find himself outside its city limits from time to time and will be on unfamiliar ground. He’ll enlist the help of his DC buddies to fight off the baddies.

Exciting. I used to love the style the Batman cartoons were drawn in when I was a teenager. I’d watch it just for that.
