Out in limited release this weekend is Flawless starring Demi Moore and Michael Caine.
The period movie is set in the 1960s and Moore plays Laura Quinn, an executive at the London Diamond Corporation who is frustrated in a male dominated environment after being passed up for promotion after promotion. Said frustration sets the ground for an intriguing heist caper, complete with all the trimmings.
As expected, veteran Michael Caine truly shines as a janitor, Mr. Hobbs, that befriends Quinn and teams up with her to plan the heist. Hobbs convinces Quinn that it is their duty to steal a vault full of diamonds from their employer.
Demi is well cast in this role, and gives a respectful performance of an American living in London. And she’s also successful at depicting the strife of woman of the era.
Overall, Flawless isn’t exactly flawless, but it nonetheless serves up a nice helping of fun. If you’re game for a good heist film, then you should definitely check this one out.
