The recent LA Times article claiming Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had prior knowledge to the 1994 assault on Tupac Shakur was apparantly a fabrication.

Editor Russ Stanton issued a statement saying, “The bottom line is that the documents we relied on should not have been used… We apologize both to our readers and to those referenced in the documents … and in the story.”

Chuck Philips, the reporter who inked the story, also apologized.

But, apologies aren’t worth one cent according to Marc Lichtman, representing attorney for James Rosemond who the Times article also said was involved in the Shakur attack. Lichtman said, “I would suggest to Mr. Philips and his editors that they immediately print an apology and take out their checkbooks — or brace themselves for an epic lawsuit. ”

Philips, a Pulitzer-prize reporter, didn’t have much to say. “I now believe the truth here is I got duped.”

Oh well Philips, time to crack open that checkbook and face the music because Diddy has expensive taste.
