Buzzfocus.com is back from the red-carpet premiere of Showtime’s The Tudors. Here’s the low-down on the premiere and some photos from the reception.

As The Tudors returns for season 2, fans can expect a darker show and a more morally depraved Henry VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers).

With Anne Boleyn (Natalie Dormer) pulling Henry’s emotional strings, Henry finds himself alone unable to escape the Boleyn family grasp. Boleyn’s not the only thing at odds with Henry. Our King has drawn out some mighty enemies, primarily the Pope and God. He’ll try to stake his claim over the Catholic Church, in an effort to end his marriage to Queeen Katherine of Aragon. Just don’t expect the Church to go down without a fight.

King Henry VIII may be increasing his control over England, but mentally and spiritually he’s on a precipitous downward spiral. Expect several bodies to fall in the process.

Peter O’Toole stars as Pope Paul III. O’Toole was greeted with a hearty applause when he was introduced at the screening. During the premiere, his serious delivery of some comedic and decisively anti-Boleyn dialogue was an immediate crowd pleaser.
