The 2008 CMT Music Awards, country music’s only fan-voted awards show, just received some additional superstar power. Newly announced performers include Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban and Brooks & Dunn.
Previously announced performances include Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift and a special performance by Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus.
The 2008 CMT MUSIC AWARDS will be hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus and will air live from Nashville’s Curb Event Center at Belmont University on Monday, April 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CMT and CMT.com.
If you can’t get your fill of Billy Ray Cyrus off the Superstar performances alone make sure you check him out hosting Nashville Star, which airs this Monday, June 9th, at 9pm. I think he will do a great job as the new host, the show was already great but I think it will be so much better now. Between him and the show’s move to a bigger network, NBC, I think it will really boost viewership so that even more people will be talking about this wonderful show. It’s one of my favorites.
Alot of the performances, surprisingly weren’t that good…. at all. Miley and Billy Ray’s song Ready Set Don’t Go, she sounded really different and … bad… I love Miley and Billy but, the performance was a stinker… Taylor Swifts performance, she sounded, nervous and her voice was jumpy and not steady. I’ve seen them all live before, and they were great, so hopefully it was just nerves. The song by SUGARLAND, LITTLE BIG TOWN, AND JAKE OWEN, is called LIFE IN A NORTHERN TOWN. It is a remake of the 1985 version by The Dream Academy. I was dissapointed at alot of the performances, but that one was GREAT. Leann Rimes did a great job too. There were many others that did too. Just a few…. should’ve warmed up first…. : (

I have been searching the internet for the last 2 hours trying to figure out what the name and/or original artist was of that song that Jennifer Nettles and the other half dozen artists performed at the 2008 CMT music awards tonight that sounded African. It was cool!! Do you know anything about that?
Keith Urban is married to Nicole Kidman who recently stood and watched as her trainer beat and kicked some photographer. Then they stole his camera.
He deserves no awards. Hes a disgrace to country music.
