Even though the writer’s strike has concluded, it will still affect the airing of Fox’s 24.

The network has decided to push back seventh season of the show until January of 2009. And I think it’s a smart decision. Such a move will ensure that we’re able to see the show in consecutive weeks rather than to see it for a month or two and then go on a Prison Break style hiatus. Only 8 episodes of Season 7 were produced prior to the writer’s strike. In addition, if they started airing it now, the season would run deep into the summer, which is a no-no for high profile shows.

In the meantime, a bunch of new shows will be back on the air in the next few weeks to keep viewers happy. And the fall will be chock full of new shows as well. Here’s to hoping that the 24 writers and producers take the extra time to make Season 7 the best one yet.
