J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie will have to wait an additional 5 months before coming to the big screen. Paramount Pictures has announced pushing back the release of the movie from this December to May 2009.
Who’s to blame? According to Variety, the decision is indirectly due to the Writer’s Strike, which finally concluded earlier this week. The studio is rearranging its release schedule since the strike affected the production of some of its other movies. As such, they think it will be better (more $) to release at the start of summer, which is typically a huge opportunity to snare movie-goers.
