George Lucas’ animated film, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” will open August 15, 2008 in theaters throughout North America, followed by the debut of a television series of the same name this fall.
Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith was supposed to be the last of the franchise that we were to see on the big screen, but Lucas felt there was more to add to it. “I felt there were a lot more ‘Star Wars’ stories left to tell,” Lucas said in a statement. “I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward.”
The television series debut on Cartoon Network in the fall and later air on TNT.

I agree, I think there is so much more Star Wars to tell and hope that Lucas picks it up. I know he is getting old, but hey, perhaps he could pass the torch to someone he trusts to further his work.
