Marvel Comics wins out again this week by a landslide, with X-Force reigning supreme. There are really no DC Comics that I’d recommend picking up this week, except for “maybe” Booster Gold #0. The week is just lackluster. I’ve flagged a couple of additional DC Comics you may want to check out, but they are by no means recommendations. This week is all Marvel and no DC. Sorry Supes.

Marvel Comics
New Avengers #38
New Avengers is the only Avengers title I’ll follow. The rest are just unworthy fakes. I still don’t get how Spidey is Back in Black in the New Avengers, but not in his Brand New Day. Urggh. It’s painful to think about.
Well Luke Cage’s wife Jessica Jones has turned her back on her indestructable husband. I’ll pay to see how Cage reacts.
X-Factor #28
You know, if it wasn’t for Messiah Complex, I probably would still not read X-Factor. I’ll pick this up this month, just to read the aftermath story.
Following the events of Messiah Complex, X-Factor Investigations is in shambles. Jamie is a basketcase from his trip to a nightmarish future, Layla’s fate is completely in the air, and Wolfsbane has to leave the team to join X-Force, though none of her friends can know about it. What will Wolfsbane tell the X-Factor team? What are they going to do about Layla? How is Jamie coping with his guilt?
X-Force #1
Heck yeah this comics getting picked up! Wolverine has got his own team. Enter “Angels and Demons” Part 1 of 6 (hopefully, there’s no lawsuit from a certain Robert Langdon over the naming here).
There are lines that the X-Men have sworn never to cross. But after the shocking events of “Messiah Complex,” Cyclops realizes that some enemies need to be dealt with permanently… and the X-Men can never know about it. Enter Wolverine, Warpath, X-23 and Wolfsbane… the new and improved X-Force.
Actually, can X-Force really be improved without Cable? And how many teams can Wolverine be on anyway? He must have a doppelgänger out there somewhere.
DC Comics
Let me reiterate. Everything on this week’s DC Comics pull list is tentative. If you need to audible at the checkout line - DO IT!
Countdown to Final Crisis #11
I’m torn as to whether “Countdown” in any of it’s many forms should be in any pull list. “Final Crisis” mentions the final destiny of Karate Kid. Maybe something you want to check out, or at the least browse through while your in the comic shop. I’ve already got the word on this issue, so it’s a pass for me.
Booster Gold #0
Bet you’re saying, “How dare you have Booster Gold in your pull list?” Well it’s a #0 comic, and I’ve always picked up #0 issues since the days of Valiant Comics. Remember Rai, Solar Man of the Atom, and Magnus Robot Fighter? Good times. Good times.
Anyway, check it out. It’s written by Geoff Johns and 9 out of 10 times, I’ll read anything Johns writes.
An issue over ten years in the making! An official ZERO HOUR crossover kicks off the second time-traveling story arc of “the greatest hero the world will never know” with “Blue and Gold,” Part 1! Witness the secret origin of Booster Gold as he journeys through the time line, lost, in an attempt to return home…with a good friend in tow. But there’s an evil out there waiting for him; one of the greatest villains of the DC Universe: Hal Jordan, a.k.a. Parallax!
Green Lantern Corps #21
Ehh. I’ve been following Green Lantern since the Sinestro Corps war that just fizzled out at the end. The whole Alpha Lanterns thing is really almost tedious to follow. But, here’s hoping something worth reading will happen.
Superman #673
DC is marketing this issue as one to read. But, it’s doubtful it will be interesting until maybe the last two pages.
The action-packed final battle on the Moon, with the fate of Earth in the balance! Plus, major repercussions for LexCorp and Lana Lang, and Superman discovers what’s happened to Chris and Lois, beginning a series of changes that will turn the Metropolis Marvel’s life upside down!
