Online rental shop Netflix has decided that they’re not feeling HD-DVDs anymore either. The company is going to move all of its high-definition support over to Sony’s Blu-Ray format by the end of 2008.
The company sent out an email to its HD-DVD consumers stating that all the HD-DVDs in their “Saved” queue would be moved over to standard definition by the end of February. Further, all DVDs in their queue would be moved to standard DVDs by the end of the year.
It’s not looking good for Toshiba’s HD-DVD. The only big supporters are Microsoft (with their Xbox-360 console add-on) and Universal Studioes. Blockbuster announced last year that it would only support Blu-Ray and it won’t be long before big retailers begin to follow suit.
