This week Smash Lab will be attempting to build an earthquake proof house! The theory? Inside of the hold of an aircraft there’s a system used to move cargo with almost zero friction. By building an artificial earthquake machine, the Smash Lab team tests whether this anti-shake airplane technology can be used to isolate a house from an earthquake’s tremors.

Could specialized aircraft technology be used to isolate a house from the shaking of the ground? The Smash Lab team tests this theory by building an artificial earthquake machine. Watch Smash Lab Wednesday Feb. 6 at 10pm ET/P on Discovery.
