OK, now I’m clueless as to what Stephen Sommers is going for with the GI Joe Live action movie. Word has it that Zartan, leader of the Dreadnoks, will be played by Arnold Vosloo, according to IESB.net.
Vosloo is best known for his villain work in the Mummy films and he also was in Blood Diamond and Darkman.
I’m not knocking Vosloo’s acting chops, but he doesn’t seem to line up with the cunning and gritty Zartan that I knew from the comics and the cartoon. Excluding the addition of Dennis Quaid as Hawk, the casting for this movie is rather random and it’s looking to be more of a popcorn flick than the true 80s Joes reprisal that I was looking for.
Oh my God. Are you kidding me? Arnold Vosloo is so beautiful it hurts to look at him. He is so great at playing a villain, ruthless and seductive. I have been totally infatuated with him since 1993 when he played VanCleef in Hard Target. I can’t get enough of him. I will watch anything he does. Wait and see.
