The Smash Lab Takes Air Bags to the Railway

The ‘Smash Lab’ returns Wednesday with an all new exciting experiment.

Here’s the setup: There are nearly 3000 railway crossing accidents each year. And you have to believe that when a car is struck by a train barreling down the tracks, the results are no way near being pretty.

Tomorrow, the Smash Lab team will be testing an idea to use giant airbags on the front of a train to push cars safely out of the way. Will it work?
